Husqvarna 128L 28cc 2-Stroke Smart Start Straight Shaft String Trimmer
Customer Review: At long last, one that works!
Did a LOT of research online and in stores, only to be disappointed several times before finding the Husqvarna 128LDx (same as 128L, but with detachable shaft to allow for accessories) My old Ryobi bit the dust, and the new ones in the big box stores are junk. I can't believe how downhill they've gone. Pain in the neck to assemble, no more multiple choke positions for when it starts varnishing up over time (even with proper maintenance, fuel treatment and storage). I put the new one I purchased back in the box and promptly returned it to the HD big box store. I then looked at (and actually purchased and returned after reading instructions and learning more about them) the Echo and MTD (4-stroke). The Echo I bought had the kind of head where you put small pieces of string into the head easily, and then replaced the pieces when they broke off while trimming. This seemed too much a hassle to always have to stop and replace those pieces (however simple) everytime you hit a chain link fence or landscaping block. Some of the higher end Echo's are pretty nice, and were in 2nd place for me, but talking to a number of people in the know gave the nod to the Husqvarna. The Echo's have great motors, but a tendency to have string jams, meltdowns, etc. The Husqvarna is the easiest to add more line to, and is known to be bulletproof in that area. The 4-stroke MTD seemed like a sweet idea, but when I read the instructions and learned about the maintenance (you need to have feeler gauges and be able to adjust the valve-lash -- not something your average joe homeowner really wants to mess with). Plus, I heard that the durability may not be there. Certainly seems there are good reasons that people who use these things professionally stay away from the 4-strokes (heavy and lack of durability). So finally came upon the Husqvarna. Solid reviews whereever I went, and known for WORKING. Great, powerful motor that is easy starting and long lasting. Fairly light weight, trimmer head is a bump head that's very easy to refill. Straight shaft, professional style trimmer that I got for an even two bills at the dealer -- who set it up for me, got it running/adjusted perfectly and showed me all the ins and outs. Other notes: Decent sound level -- not all that loud. Does not smoke -- Etec II engine is pretty clean for a two stroke. So far I am very pleased!

Weed Eater String Trimmer Spool for XT110/112/114/115 .065-Inch #952-701663
Customer Review: A fine product
As a senior citizen, I want a product that is light weight and easy to use. This Weed Eater fits the bill perfectly. I would not hesitate to advise others to buy it.
Customer Review: Does what it does
Basic weedwacker string. Does what it does, doesn't skimp on the amount of string, and doesn't jam more than a couple times a roll. Not a five because to be a five it would have to have even more string, but that's about it.

Weed Eater String Trimmer Spool for EL8, FL20 .065-Inch #952711527
Customer Review: Replacement Spool
Cheapest place to get it is on Amazon. Its the original spool with line that came with your WeedEater Featherlite that uses the small line with 1 line out of the spool.
Customer Review: quality string
This weed eater string replacement was soooo much more durable than the string that came with the machine. Well worth a replacement!

Swisher Shindaiwa E4 Power Multi-Tool String Trimmer Attachment #E4-U3001
Customer Review: Quality tool with great quick-disconnect
Swisher/Shindaiwa's quick-disconnect on their multi-tool is exceptional. The lock-up at the joint is very solid, with no play at all, and the drive is via a solid shaft - not a cable as with almost all others. I down-rate this attachment to 4 stars only because the bump head isn't up to the quality of the rest of the tool. I changed mine out to an Echo pre-cut string head several years ago and have never looked back.

Customer Review: Weed Eater String Trimmer
I have had other weed trimmers, but this one is by far the best. It is very powerful, but easy to use. I have a medium sized yard, and I've used it 4 times so far. The only thing that I noticed that I didn't like, was that I plugged it in, and accidentally had my finger on the trigger. It should have a safety switch that must be depressed at the same time as the main trigger. Other than that, it is a good machine.
Customer Review: hate the reloading
This is the 3rd Weedeater brand string trimmer I've owned. In the past I've always been able to load my own line onto a spare spool and change as needed while working. Not so this model, unless you want to buy a completely new spool for every line reload. The design of the model leaves no doubt in my mind that the manufacturer deliberately made it more difficult than it needs to be for the do-it-yourselfers and without doubt seems to be designed to encourage the user to buy pre-loaded spools rather than loading your own. Seems like an MBA somewhere decided they could do the same with replacement line as the computer printer manufacturers have done with the ink cartridges. I sure wish I would've researched more thoroughly. And I'm equally disappointed with Weedeater, a brand that I've trusted for many years. Not so going into the future. In fact, I'll probably hand cut before I'll buy another of their products. I would add that the owners manual clearly shows the old style spool when demonstrating how to load line. I defy someone from Weedeater to load line into the spool in a reasonable period of time. If they can, I will retract this review with complete humbleness.

Yard Man YM132 15-Inch 5.2 Amp Electric Straight Shaft String Trimmer With EZ-Link Detachable Shaft
Customer Review: yardman- 137
It's durable & powerful w/5.2 amp motor, yet light. Has worked fine for 2 years. My property is big -- I use a 100 ft power cable.Reloading string is easier than my hard start Ryobi gas unit. I use bulk .095 string. Bump feed is reliable. This is a better product than wimpier, low amp electrics. Surprisingly, Yard-man no longer makes or sells electric string trimmers. That's a bummer, as I'd like a source of wear-out parts in the future. They act like they never heard of the -137 & same for the -132
Customer Review: Beware, I got a Ryobi
I ordered this through Amazon - well - an affiliate of theirs, I guess, and what I got was a Ryobi brand trimmer with a curved shaft. I was desperate at the time, so tried it out and am actually very happy with it. I don't know if Ryobi makes trimmers anymore, but given the bad review of this one, you might want to look for a Ryobi.

Black & Decker AF-100-3ZP String Trimmer Replacement Spool With 30-Feet Of .065-Inch Line - 3 Pack
Customer Review: A better value than I expected
I really hesitated before purchasing a cordless Black & Decker weed eater, in part because of the automatic-feed string system. I've owned my cordless Black & Decker NST2018 string trimmer for a few years now, and have had no problems with either the machine itself, or these associated string replacement spools. The price of this string may seem high, but Amazon has consistently beat the prices of local retailers. Amazingly, a 3-pack lasts at least one year of moderate weekly use. With this product, I can replace string in only a few seconds and with no cursing needed.
Customer Review: Incorrect product for edger
Incorrect item. The spools were supposed to be the double stringed ones for a newer grass hog edger.

Yard Machines 17-Inch 31cc 2-Cycle Gas Powered Curved Shaft String Trimmer #3100M
Customer Review: yard machine y780 trimmer
This is not the exact same trimmer that is for sale here so there may be differences, but this might provide insight. First of all be sure to keep your receipt, they won't even look at it with out a receipt. I have a yard machine Y780 string trimmer and I am very displeased with the product and the service. After just a few weeks of use the pull start cord failed to engage. I have owned several other trimmers and never had this problem. I contacted the 800 number on the trimmer and they directed me to a very rude repair man that said that is just wear and tear and they won't fix it anyway. The whole product is poorly desinged: the only thing you should ever have to replace is the cord, which is impossible to get at. The flywheel that engages the starter is plastic. Of all the parts that should be metal this is the one. I might add that I have a Club Cadet lawn tractor that is also made by MTD and I absolutely love it.
Customer Review: Basic trimmer
Bare bones machine- I will wait to see if it is reliable. Starting procedure is ridiculous but it seems to run well. Packaging was all beat up and taped closed.... appeared to have been opened before. It seems all the E retailers like to pawn off their store returns by mail.
